    Beginner Band

Music is what brings us all together; it is a second language and the key to opening our minds to a world of creativity. Musicians are often more successful in school and experience a healthier mind and outlook, and our Beginner Band gives students that opportunity right here at school. In this after-school program, students will learn to play a band instrument while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork through the many mistakes and victories that come with becoming a musician. Beginner Band meets every Friday immediately after school until 4:30 PM, and no previous musical experience is required. Students will have the opportunity to perform at two large concerts each year, as well as Veterans Day and our school parade. Available instruments include flute, clarinet, oboe, alto and tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, euphonium, and tuba, while percussion students will rotate on percussion and also learn another band instrument. Instruments can be rented or purchased anywhere, but the school has affiliations with both Howard Instruments and Piano Gallery, giving our families access to excellent service and special discounts through trusted local partners.

    Advanced Band

Advanced Band is designed for students who are ready to take their musicianship to the next level by performing more challenging literature, refining their technique, and serving as leaders within our growing music program. Advanced Band meets every Friday from 4:30–5:30 PM, and advanced students are encouraged to stay after school from 3:30–4:30 PM to mentor and assist Beginner Band before their own rehearsal begins. Placement in Advanced Band requires an audition, and students should be able to successfully perform everything in the Accent on Achievement method book through Exercise 98. Students will perform at two semester concerts, Veterans Day, and the school parade while continuing to develop the confidence, discipline, and collaboration that make great ensembles possible. Instruments can be rented or purchased anywhere, but the school has affiliations with both Howard Instruments and Piano Gallery, giving families access to quality instruments, excellent support, and special discounts through our community partners.
