Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) Recognizes Outstanding Educator with Dr. Luann Purcell Scholarship

Idaho Falls, Idaho - The Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE) is pleased to announce that Adrienne Seamans, our Director of Federal Programs, has been awarded the prestigious Dr. Luann Purcell Scholarship for Continuing Education. This scholarship, valued at $1,000, is a testament to Ms. Seamans' dedication to the field of special education and her commitment to advancing excellence in educational leadership.

The organization's core values include visionary leadership, inclusionary practices, engagement, and integrity, which align seamlessly with Ms. Seamans' contributions and accomplishments.

Adrienne Seamans expressed her gratitude for her team, stating, "Special Education is not easy and requires A LOT of paperwork, rules and regulations to follow, and a lot of systems to facilitate. I feel incredibly blessed to have a team that I feel honored to work with. This is a win for the entire team."

The Dr. Luann Purcell Scholarship for Continuing Education, named after a distinguished educator, advocate, and leader, is a means to empower aspiring special education administrators. Dr. Luann Purcell's remarkable legacy, as a teacher, district administrator, and 

Executive Director of CASE, has left an indelible mark on the special education community. This scholarship echoes her passion for leadership and commitment to students with disabilities.

Dr. Luann Purcell's unwavering dedication has left an enduring impact on CASE and the broader educational landscape.  "I work hard on building relationships with families as I have had to sit on their side of the desk and know all too well what it feels like not to feel heard or helpless." said Adrienne Seamans, “I even had parents, not at our school, contact me to help them, which I gladly do. I never want a parent to feel helpless on my watch.”

The scholarship is designed to support educators pursuing higher degrees or additional certifications in the realm of special education administration. Candidates are required to demonstrate a strong commitment to the field, with a minimum of one year of experience in special education, and exhibit a desire to excel as special education administrators. Membership and involvement in the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), a sister organization of CASE, are also preferred qualifications.

Recipients of the scholarship will not only receive financial support but also the opportunity to share their educational journey through a narrative, which may be published by CASE. This initiative aims to foster a community of learning and inspire future generations of special education leaders.
